ICA CHOSEN AS FEMALE FOOTBALL GUARDIANS

New opportunities for Peterborough-based girls 5-11 to participate in highly enjoyable football sessions

The FA and SSE have announced details of a substantial new project that will provide an opportunity for over 6000 more girls from 5 to 11 to get involved in playing football.

The project will see the creation Peterborough Wildcats Girls’ Football Club for the girls of Peterborough to get involved in the beautiful game.

The project is an integral part of The FA’s objective to double girls’ football participation by 2020 and has been established in a partnership between The FA and SSE, supporters of girls’ football participation and sponsor of the SSE Women’s FA Cup

The Peterborough centre will run in Bretton in partnership with ICA Sports Football Club, who have already introduced more than 100 girls to football in the past two years.

Girls joining the The Peterborough SSE Wildcats Girls’ Football Club will not only benefit from learning to play the beautiful game in a relaxed environment, with highly engaging and enjoyable sessions, they will also get to meet an Arsenal Ladies First Team player.

Following on from the first session, girls will be entitled to a further range of benefits as part of the clubs Arsenal Ladies FA WSL Sister Club program.

The Peterborough Wildcats Girls’ Football Club will initially run for 18 weeks, from early April up to and through the UEFA Women's EURO 2017, which this year are being held I The Netherlands. Parents and carers who attend with the girls will also have the optional opportunity to take part in football-related fitness sessions at the same time as the girls.
