The FA Community Awards presented by McDonald’s aim to recognise and reward people across the country that make a difference to grassroots football in their local community – the people who dedicate their time to developing tomorrow’s young talent and help ensure safety and best practice in tens of thousands of clubs up and down the country.

The awards offer a chance to all those involved in grassroots football to shout about the person, or team of people that have made a real difference to their experience whilst playing or just being involved in the beautiful game.

Winners are awarded to the best grassroots football clubs and volunteers across the country in recognition of working above and beyond expectations.

Eighteen months ago ICA Sports FC had only adult male teams, but this season have hosted men's, women's, boys and girls football teams.

Well, today (1st October) the exceptional work of all the volunteers at ICA Sports FC was recognised as the club was presented with the FA Charter Standard Club of the Year award for their forwarding-thinking and pro-active approach to the introduction and development of youth and female football at the club.

Additionally, Club Chairman, Ces Serluca was presented with the FA Community Award for Outstanding Contribution to Community Football for his continued commitment to the development of grassroots football in Peterborough. This is includes overseeing the formation and development of ICA Sports FC.

In the past 18 months ICA Sports FC have built the largest female section in the city and still continue to see numbers grow on a weekly basis, not by recruiting players from other clubs, but by actively recruiting new girls into the game. They now have 96 girls training & playing regularly from 4 to 13 years old and their Women’s team have just started their second season.

On the male side of the club, the first boys training session ran in March 2015 and this section is blossoming equally well with five teams already formed and two new development squads are being introduced during October 2016 to meet with increased demand.

Everybody at the club should be very proud of the recognition we have received as the second leg of our journey to become the number one choice for community football in Peterborough begins.
