5***** performance at St Ives today

This morning the Under 14 Girls took on St Ives Rangers in the Hunts FA County Cup Semi final.

This game, against an A division team, looked set to be a challenging assignment but ICA fielded an attacking line up, and took the game to their opponents which yielded immediate rewards when Ella Flanz pounced on a loose ball in the penalty area to rifle home and give ICA an early lead.

It was soon 2 - a good passing move led to a shot which was mis-hit but fell kindly for Aline Negrao to fire into the bottom corner for 2.

ICA were flying - dominating possession and territory, using the full width of the pitch to create the space, and St Ives impressive keeper made a number of excellent saves to keep the score at 2.

ICA did find a third before half time and what a goal it was, with left back Aimee Harris battling to win the loose ball, and curling a beauty into the top corner for her first goal for ICA.

Into the second half and St Ives started to see more of the ball, using the width of the pitch but the back 4, expertly ran by captain Thea Jenkins and defensive partner Lola Spice were an impenetrable wall, with keeper Lily Riddell handling well and claiming crosses into the area. ICA regained control and an excellent crossfield ball from Ava Reinis gave Daisy Wright a perfect opportunity which she took with a very good lob over the advancing keeper for 4-0. Towards the end, Aline Negrao scored her second with a thumping strike into the top corner after accepting Miri Jacombs pass after another slick ICA move and the team could celebrate an excellent 5-0 win and first cup final appearance.

Date and opposition TBC - we will of course keep everyone posted!

Well done girls - superb performance
