We are delighted to confirm that Raffaele Mazzarella has agreed to join our management team.

Mazzarella is someone with whom the Club have spoken in the past about potentially joining in some capacity, following his time managing at Bourne Town who play at Step 6 in UCL Division 1.

At that point both parties decided to move in different directions and Mazzarella re-joined Step 5 Club Peterborough Northern Star, where he has held the positions of u18 Manager, Reserve Team Manager, First Team Manager and most recently Director of Football; where he oversaw all of the footballing operations for the Club.

When asked about his motivation for this move, Mazzarella replied:

“Having decided to become involved in football again, I got in touch with the guys at ICA as we had spoken in the past.

“We immediately got on well again; I buy into their ambition to move up the leagues and respect the way the Club is run.

“My current situation means that work-life balance is really important to me, but I have also really missed being in the dugout.

“I’m looking forward to getting involved at this level & as part of a team where I feel I’ll be able to make a positive contribution”.

Mazzarella will join Frascogna and Wayte on the ICA bench. Frascogna commented:

“I’m really pleased that Raff has agreed to join us.

“With my Club hat on, we are always looking to recruit people into ICA that bring with them experience, energy and wisdom and Raff definitely fits that profile.

“As a Manager and Coach, both Waytey and I are hoping to tap into Raff’s experience managing at Step 5 and Step 6 to help us on our development journey too.

“We have a fluid management team with a share of decision making and responsibilities, which we don’t see changing.

“It had always been the plan to have three of us on the bench, but unfortunately Karl Smith has had a change in work circumstances that have reduced his availability at weekends.

“I think that the three of us have complementary skills and I am excited about getting the maximum return from our remaining fixtures in the PDFL; then for the three of us to sit down with the Chairman and begin planning for a strong 2019/20 season”.

Mazzarella will join up with the team from the next training session and then at their next fixture at home to Long Sutton Athletic in the PDFL Premier Division on Saturday 5th January, with kick-off scheduled for 2pm.
