Whittlesey Athletic FC vs. ICA Sports FC

The Azzurri make the short trip into Cambridgeshire this Saturday, to face Whittlesey Athletic in the PDFL Premier Division.

Whittlesey currently sit at 7th place in the Prem table with 33 points from their 18 matches. They have played 12 matches at home in all competitions this season; winning 8, drawing and losing twice respectively. Those solitary two defeats came against Tydd in December and Thorney back in August.

ICA - who have taken 24 points from their 24 league games this season - moved down from 9th to 12th place in a tight bottom half of the league table, following last week's draw with Holbeach Utd Res. The points in the bottom half of the table are that close in fact, that an ICA win could potentially move them up to 9th whereas a loss or draw could see them drop to 14th. Naturally all is dependent on results in all of the fixtures, including this one. The Azzurri are on their best run of form this season, remaining undefeated in their past five matches.

The Azzurri and Athletic have already faced each other this season, playing out a no-score draw at South Bretton Playing Field back in mid-September. ICA were in the midst of a recruitment drive to turn their season around and today's opponents had key personnel unavailable as well. Only four of ICA's starting 11 from that day have been retained at the Club and feature in this weekend's match-day squad.

Team news:

Goalkeeper Jamie Stephens has been ruled-out following an accident at work and Cardin Pierre-Liverpool (fractured leg) is still out of contention. ICA also miss Fabio Ramos (work), whilst Steve Slack and Lewis Waldron are both away.

Top-scorer Joe Dobson (sciatica) and Hamza Akram (ribs) hope to pass a pre-match fitness test. Meanwhile goalkeeper Jason Andrews returns from his loan spell with Peterborough Northern Star to take the number 1 jersey.

We also pass our best wishes to joint 1st team manager Raff Mazzarella, who continues his recovery from illness.

This match is a 2pm kick-off at Feldale Field, Whittlesey. Full details are available at this link
